Post-Stroke After Life

Communication is the most important faculty that I lost in my stroke. Judging by several friends with Aphasia and those who have had strokes, we who lose abilities feel less human; certainly we feel less adult.  I am one of the lucky stroke survivors; most of my faculties are intact. However, one of my best friends in Marietta was reduced to a baby state by a stroke. With eight years of speech and other therapies, but mostly through dogged determination, my friend is a very productive leader in her community.   As I remember how to do things again, writing was the first thing I set as a goal. Cooking and writing have always been my passions, even before I was a teenager. It makes since to me that I would, first, return to writing and cooking. I crave meaningful conversation with a group. I hope to find this again.
